Diet Snack Food

So what kind of snack food is good to eat while you are on a diet?  There are few that come to mind, but none of them are all that great:

  1. Carrots - You can get a bag of these for pretty cheap, and they are a pretty light meal.  Grab a big bag of baby carrots and munch on a few anytime you get hungry between meals.
  2. Rice cakes - These are usually low-calorie and pretty light.  The only problem is that they don’t do much to fill you up, so you end up eating way more than you should.
  3. Celery - Similar to carrots, but I don’t think that celery tastes as good plain.  Celery tastes great when you dip it into some fatty dip, but then it is no longer a diet snack.
  4. Fruit - While fruit isn’t exactly the lowest calorie snack you can have, and it usually has plenty of sugars, it is still something that might hold you over to your next meal while being delicious and nutritious at the same time.
  5. Water - This isn’t exactly the ideal diet snack, but water has no calories, no carbs and no fat.  You can drink all the water you want and it won’t make you fat.  You should actually be drinking plenty of water to help in your weight loss.
  6. Intense exercise.  You may be thinking “well, this isn’t a diet snack!”, but just hear me out.  If you are a little hungry a few hours before dinner, go do some exercising.  Go for a 30 minute run, an hour bike ride, or life weights for a bit.  You will start drinking water which fills you up a little bit, and while you are exercising, you won’t be super hungry.  When you get back, your hunger won’t return for a little bit.  So, instead of snacking and taking in a couple extra calories, you will be exercising and actually burning extra calories.
  7. Simply not snacking.  One reason some people gain a lot of weight or break a diet is because they are addicted to snacking.  Sometimes it is nothing more than an oral fixation - maybe you could take up smoking?  Just kidding!  Try chewing gum instead of snacking!

  1. Nice information dear! My friend’s mother is dietician at Delhi Hospital said that 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds soaked in curds and consumed in the morning in empty stomach prevents diabeties and also helps diabetic patients to recover.
